Skyscrapers in Shinjuku

Tokyo is the largest city and capital of Japan.

The city center is made up of 23 wards, each with a completely different atmosphere and scenery. The following wards (areas) are recommended.

Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo (千代田区)
Minato-ku, Tokyo (港区)
Chuo-ku, Tokyo (中央区)
Taito-ku, Tokyo (台東区)
Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo (新宿区)
Shibuya-ku, Tokyo(渋谷区)

Chiyoda-ku(千代田区)

Chiyoda-ku is the heart of Tokyo and the heart of Japan.

The main places to visit are Tokyo Station,Akihabara

Tokyo Sta.

Tokyo Station is a huge hub station with multiple train lines. Tokyo Station is known not only for its huge station functions but also for its beautiful appearance.

From Haneda Airport (HND), take the Tokyo Monorail (MO) to Hamamatsucho, where you can access the Yamanote Line (JY) bound for Tokyo and Ueno. From Narita Airport (NRT), take the Narita Express (NEX) direct!

Akihabara

Akihabara is one of Tokyo's famous tourist spots, known for its anime culture and otaku culture. You can also experience maid cafes.

Access: Two stops from Tokyo Station on the Yamanote Line toward Ueno/Ikebukuro (JY) or on the Keihin-Tohoku Line toward Omiya or Minami-Urawa (JK).

Minato-ku (港区)

Minato Ward is located in central Tokyo, next to Chiyoda Ward. Recommended tourist spots include Roppongi and Tokyo Tower.

Roppongi

Roppongi is a bustling district in Tokyo. It is an area with many fashionable bars and high-end restaurants. The Roppongi Hills complex of high-rise buildings is also famous.

Accessible via the Toei Oedo Line (E) and Hibiya Line (H).

If you are traveling from Tokyo Station, take the Marunouchi subway line(M) to Ginza Station, then transfer to the Hibiya subway line(H).

Tokyo Tower

Tokyo Tower is a radio tower in Tokyo, officially known as Nippon Radio Tower. It is 333 meters high and can be climbed, and souvenirs can be purchased inside.

Access is relatively poor. From Tokyo Station, take the Yamanote Line toward Shinagawa/Shibuya (JY) to Hamamatsucho Station, transfer to the Toei Oedo Subway Line at Hamamatsucho (Daimon Station), and get off at Akabane-bashi Station.

Chuo-ku (中央区)

Chuo Ward, which forms the center of Tokyo along with Minato Ward and Chiyoda Ward, is an area where modern and cultural atmospheres coexist. There are also many commercial areas such as Ginza, Nihonbashi, and Tsukiji.

Ginza and Nihonbashi are recommended areas to visit.

Ginza

Ginza is a unique and huge entertainment district in Tokyo.

Like Shibuya, it is crowded with people, but it is a clean and fashionable town. Ginza is also known as a place where many luxury brands are gathered. Why not spend a luxurious moment in Ginza?

Ginza is also known for its excellent accessibility. It is possible to walk there from Tokyo Station, and it can also be accessed via the Marunouchi, Hibiya, Ginza, Asakusa, and Yurakucho lines.

Nihonbashi

Nihonbashi is a historic district in central Tokyo, known as the starting point of Japan’s major roads during the Edo period. The iconic Nihonbashi Bridge, adorned with mythical Kirin statues, marks the heart of the area.
Nearby, you’ll find Japan’s oldest department store, Mitsukoshi, and modern shopping complexes like COREDO Muromachi, where tradition meets innovation.
Visitors can enjoy river cruises, explore art museums, and experience authentic Japanese culture—all within walking distance from Tokyo Station.
It’s the perfect place to begin your journey through Japan!

Taito-ku (台東区)

Taito Ward is not located in central Tokyo, but it is easily accessible and is a town steeped in history and culture. Recommended spots include Ueno and Asakusa.

Ueno

Ueno is the most accessible location in Taito Ward. Ueno Station is quite large, and you could easily spend a whole day there. Ueno is home to two famous spots: Ueno Park and Ameyoko Shopping Street.

Both offer a different view and atmosphere from the city center, and are very enjoyable!

Ueno is easily accessible from major tourist destinations such as Tokyo Station, Akihabara, Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Ginza without having to transfer trains!

Asakusa

Asakusa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tokyo. I think you will really enjoy Nakamise Street, which is lined with traditional Japanese food stalls, and Sensoji Temple, famous for its Kaminarimon Gate.

Tokyo Skytree is also nearby, so it's worth stopping by.

Although Asakusa is located in the suburbs, it is easily accessible from Ueno, Ginza, and Shibuya via the Ginza Line without having to transfer.

Shinjuku-ku (新宿区)

Shinjuku Ward is Tokyo's subcenter. It is a very lively area with Shinjuku Station, which has the highest number of passengers in the world, a cluster of skyscrapers, and Kabukicho, Japan's largest entertainment district.

I would recommend Shinjuku Station and Kabukicho as places to visit.

ShinjukuStation

Shinjuku Station is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the station with the highest number of passengers in the world. The west side of Shinjuku Station is a business district, while the east side is a downtown area. Why not come and experience the world's busiest station for yourself?

Access is quite good from Tokyo Station via the Chuo Line (JC), and from Ueno and Shibuya via the Yamanote Line toward Shinjuku (JY).

Kabukicho

Kabukicho is known as Shinjuku's nightlife district. Here you can see a side of Tokyo you've never seen before, with izakaya, host clubs, girls' bars, cabarets, and more.

It is easily accessible and can be reached on foot from Shinjuku Station.

Shibuya-ku(渋谷区)

Finally, let's introduce Shibuya Ward. Shibuya Ward is home to Shibuya, famous for its youth culture and famous intersection, and Harajuku, famous for Takeshita Street. Both areas are very crowded and lively.

Here, we recommend Shibuya Scramble Crossing and Takeshita Street.

Shibuya Scramble Crossing

Shibuya Scramble Crossing is an intersection in front of Shibuya Station. It is a very busy intersection every day, with many people crossing it. Shibuya Station is also very crowded, ranking second in the world in terms of passenger numbers after Shinjuku Station. There are many things to do around Shibuya Scramble Crossing, from fashion to dining and activities, so it's a fun place to visit for shopping!

It is also very easy to access, with direct connections from Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station, Ueno Station, Asakusa Station, and Ginza Station!

Takeshita Street

Takeshita Street is located in Harajuku. Like Shibuya, it is very crowded. Harajuku is famous for its pop culture. If you visit, you may find something you like.

In terms of access, you can get there without changing trains from Tokyo Station, Ueno Station, Shinjuku Station, and Shibuya Station on the Yamanote Line (JY)!
